Privacy Policy

Summary

TypeTap is privacy-first. You can take typing tests without an account; results stay in your browser by default. If you choose to sign in (Google or email/password), we store account details and keep about 3 days of typing scores for the leaderboard.

1. Data We Collect

Local storage (guests): When you finish a typing test, WPM and accuracy are saved in your browser's local storage on your device and can be cleared anytime.

Account (optional): If you register or sign in with Google, we store your email, display name, image (if any), and sign-in provider for authentication and account display.

Leaderboard scores (signed-in): Timed tests completed while signed in may save score summaries (WPM, accuracy, duration, word bank, etc.) for personal and global leaderboards, retained for about 3 days.

2. What We Do Not Do

3. Cookies

TypeTap uses cookies required for signed-in sessions and essential preferences such as language. We do not use cross-site advertising cookies.

4. Data Retention

Local results persist until you clear browser data. Server-side leaderboard scores are kept for about 3 days and then pruned. Account records remain until you stop using the account.

5. Your Data Rights

You may access, correct, or delete personal data about you, and request account deletion. Here is how:

Access: Guest results can be viewed in your browser's local storage or exported from Settings where available. Signed-in users can review synced score summaries in account-related views and the leaderboard. To request a copy of account or server-side score data we hold, email algoinf@gmail.com with your registered email and the scope of the request.

Correction: You may update available profile details (such as display name) in the product when those controls are offered. If you cannot correct something yourself, email us with the fields to change and the correct values.

Deletion: Local results can be removed by clearing browser data or using clear/export controls in Settings. Leaderboard scores on our servers expire after about 3 days. To delete account-linked server data sooner, email a deletion request.

Account closure: To close your account, send a request from your registered email to algoinf@gmail.com with the subject or body stating that you request account deletion. After we verify your identity, we will delete or anonymize account records and related server data, except where retention is required by law.

Response time: We aim to complete valid access, correction, deletion, or account-closure requests within 15 calendar days after identity verification, and within 30 calendar days in more complex cases. We will update you by email if more time is needed.

6. Changes to This Policy

As our service evolves, we may update this privacy policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
